THE FINAL ELEMENT:
APPLIED FUNCTIONAL NEUROLOGY.

COMBINING TREATMENT WITH EXERCISE

For those of us in the manual medicine field, the 1990s brought mechanical treatment of soft tissues to the forefront of therapy options. Excellent new techniques such as ART and Graston became very popular as doctors and therapists discovered the importance of removing myofascial adhesions to improve myofascial glide, increase movement and restore biomechanics. Although therapeutically important, osseous manipulation, passive muscle massage techniques and physiotherapy modalities were often not enough to create sustainable positive outcome. In adding current soft tissue techniques to their treatment protocols, practitioners were able to take their practices to new levels by gaining results otherwise unachievable.

Another awakening occurred in the 2000’s, led by notables such as Dr. Frederick Carrick, with the realization that treatment of aberrant sensorimotor neurology, both peripherally and centrally, could still further enhance treatment outcome significantly. Doctors and therapists well versed in osseous manipulation, physiotherapy, rehab, and soft tissue treatments still found that there were cases where the combination of these approaches was not enough. In searching for the missing element of care, they found it in the most basic area of life, the origin and controlling element of all movement and function, Neurology.

Since the opening of The Trigenics Institute of Myoneural Medicine, TRIGENICS functional neurology grew in popularity. 2009 marks the 10th anniversary of the first Trigenics course with over 2000 doctors and therapists worldwide having now become certified in Trigenics as Registered Trigenics Physicians or Practitioners (RTP).

You have mastered treatment of aberrant osteology with your manipulative procedures and you have mastered treatment of aberrant histology with your soft tissue techniques.

Now consider mastering treatment of the final critical, controlling element, aberrant neurology.

The Canadian government recognized the Trigenics® Institute as a learning institution in 1998.  Although it was then possible to grant students a "Trigenist" (Trigenics® Practitioner) designation and tax credits for tuition, it was felt that graduates should have the opportunity to be licensed and accountable to a registering body that upholds educational, ethical and upgrading standards. This would also present a sense of reassurance to the public and potentially facilitate the development of insurance coverage for Trigenics® treatment. The "R.T.P." designation (Registered Trigenics® Practitioner) was subsequently born. The Registered Trigenics® Physician / Practitioner course (RTP) commenced in 2000. It is an applicable designation worldwide.

The Trigenics® Institutes RTP program (Registered Trigenics® Physician or Practitioner) is a 3 month 100 hour course of study which is done partially on line and partially over 2 practical 3-day weekends.

Upon receiving the RTP designation as a Registered Trigenics Physician or Practitioner, the Trigenist is granted the right to practice under license of the Trigenics® trademark and patent. Governance and policies of licensing rights fall under the auspices of The Trigenics® Institute International.

Two further 1 year, 100 hour course of postgraduate study and research with the Institute enables a Registered Trigenics Practitioners to teach Trigenics® by attaining either a "C.P.T.I." (level 200 Certified Primary Trigenics® Instructor) and an "F.T.I.M.M." for doctors (Level 300, Fellow of the Trigenics® Institute of Myoneural Medicine).

The International Institute of Trigenics
(IT) was formed in 1996 as the need arose to pass on the knowledge of Trigenics® to other health professionals. (See Trigenics history) The name of the Institute was changed in the fall of 2001 to "The Trigenics® Institute of Myoneural Medicine."
